Pirates Week
Cayman's National Festival, Pirates Week,
is held during the last week of October each year. This year it will be
held from October 29 to November 7, 2004. It is action packed, with a
variety of events to suit both young and old. Included in the Pirates Week Schedule
are 5 heritage days, 8 street dances, 2 triathlons, 2 swim meets, an autocross event, a Sunday
jazz concert, a kids fun day, a colorful Caribbean float parade, and a
swashbuckling recreation of a pirates invasion right there in the Georgetown harbor.
The Pirates Invasion on October 30 is without a doubt the highlight of the week's events. Aboard the Jolly Roger, pirates and wenches, flamboyantly decked out in full regalia, "invade" George Town, with cannons a-blast. They jostle with the islanders, cutlasses clashing and guns waving. After much to do, the Governor is captured, and the pirates claim the island as theirs for the week. Thousands of residents and tourists alike line the harbor, partaking in this jovial event.

You too can be one of the prestigious pirates aboard the Jolly Roger, however I must warn you that you are required to be a fully fledged pirate, costume and antics a must. All you have to do is send us an e-mail, and you will be given all the details.
